Course Reflective Narratives
This course represents the conclusion of my undergraduate studies here at CSUMB in the Spanish program. MLO 6 was represented in the creation of this ePortfolio as well as creating and presenting our capstone projects which can be found in the capstone tab above. The capstone project has by far been the most complex assignment I have completed as it required a lot of research and was very time consuming. Having the opportunity to research my topic gave me a critical sense of the research process and the importance of staying organized. I took on a whole lot of responsibility this semester so I found it difficult to stay on track with a lot of the requirements. Through the semester we were introduced to various sources that would help us complete our research as well as understand the expectations of the assignment. With that said, it was the class itself and my classmates who made the experience amazing. Even with our differing topics, we still compared ideas in search of constant improvement .For the capstone assignment I had a hard working partner to work with; my group member was Fernanda López, the professor for the WLC 400 course was Dr. González who was also our advisor for the project. Revision became a constant theme because there was always something that could be improved. I also learned how when conducting research, it is important to write ideas along with your gathering so that you don't end up with a library of resources. Our capstone topic was analyzing the personal evolution and activism within author Francisco Jiménez's first two memoirs. While this was my first large scale research project, I am very proud of how it came out and have learned a whole lot in regards to how I can improve in the future. I think that building a community of supporters is very helpful when conducting projects which is a mindset I plan on continuing moving forward in my graduate studies. Besides the capstone project, in this course we also tested on the STAMP test once again which tested our language skills such as writing, listening, speaking and writing in Spanish. Finally we completed the eportfolio which documents my academic experience as a Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures major student here at California State University Monterey Bay.
